A PLACE OF HER OWN
This coming Thursday July 31st, is the opening of an art exhibition presented by the Asian American Women Artists Association (AAWAA), which involves healing for Asian Pacific American (APA) women and women of color through expressive arts. The exhibition is titled: A PLACE OF HER OWN. I first came across AAWAA about 3 years ago and visited the same exhibit that year. Having been a therapist, this type of exhibition resonated with me in thinking about my clients. But now as a mother, it resonates with me in a different way. It’s been a long time since I’ve done something without an agenda. It’s been tough to find A PLACE OF MY OWN where I can just be in the pure enjoyment of an experience. But when I saw the invitation to this event come in through my email, I knew, I just had to go. I plan on going this Thursday (if all goes well) and when I think about it, I can imagine myself in a place just taking in art, natural beauty and being in good company. I’m excited …
