Marriage Tune-Up: 5 Things To Do With Your Loved One This Valentines Day Weekend

Guest Post by the husband Similar to cars that need to have their oil changes and be maintained occasionally to help preserve the car, sometimes marriages need a tune-up as well. There are tons of these “lists” that describe date nights, paint a picture of a beautiful small trip, or elucidate techniques on enhancing communication. This article will do nothing of that sort. Date nights are important every week or so, small trips are fun to go on if you are able to obtain someone you trust to watch your little one, and communication is key in all aspects of a relationship, especially your marriage. Instead, below are a few ideas you can do with your loved one this Valentines Day exemplified by some activities we engaged in during our trip to New York City. All photos were taken with our iPhone 6. 1. Start by taking a walk This may sound very cliche, but taking a walk is a great way to be in touch with your spouse and really talk about things that …

A modern mom’s solution for tackling “accidents” (I’m not talking about the baby’s)

For the month of February I’ll be addressing women’s health and raising awareness for an issue that is not openly talked about: urinary incontinence conditions in women following child birth. I think this is an important issue because 1 in 4 women over the age of 18 experiences episodes of leaking urine involuntarily (Source: National Association for Continence). Thats a high-number and yet, “On average, women wait 6.5 years from the first time they experience symptoms until they obtain a diagnosis for their bladder control problem(s)”. I suspect one of the reasons this happens is because we don’t openly talk about it –  it’s taboo! So i’m going to open the floodgates (pun intended) and begin a dialogue about it, so if any of you are going through this, you don’t have to endure it in the dark (or day) anymore. Or if you’re thinking about getting pregnant, here’s a quick heads up! There are many kinds of urinary incontinence conditions in women but I won’t go through all of them. Instead, I’m going to focus on Stress Urinary …

Buy Her Bag, Not Her Body

Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored or paid post. I won’t make any money from this, and no, you don’t have to buy anything. The opinions expressed are solely my own. I’m sharing purely out of interest and convictions. If you’re not interested, please move along. But I hope you stay!  Empowerment. That’s my word of the year. That word could mean many different things for different people. For me, I’m taking what I’ve learned from previous years of being a new mother, blogger, digital marketer, now a ‘brand explorer’ and using it to open doors to new posts, projects and collaborations (Yes, I just coined the term ‘brand explorer’ because I love discovering ventures with fascinating people and stories behind them.) For some women, ’empowerment’ is what drives their very survival. Without further ado, I’d like to kick-off the year of empowerment with sharing about the Nomi Network. What is the Nomi Network? The Nomi Network is a 501(C)(3) organization whose mission is “to create economic opportunities for survivors and women at risk of human trafficking by equipping them with leadership, entrepreneurship, and production skills to become …

My son’s turning 3 and it’s terrifying!

It’s time to write a mommy update. The last time I actually wrote about motherhood/parenting was a few months ago and with all the recent developments, I thought now would be a good time. Just a reminder: I’m never going to sugar coat my experiences. Here you’re going to get the raw and ugly sides of my motherhood experience, as well as the fabulous and sweet moments. Like the title of this post suggests, my son O is turning 3 this month and here’s what I have to say about it: I’m terrified. Why? Well, you’ve probably heard about the “terrible two’s”, but how about the “terrifying three’s”? We (my husband and I) were kind of hoping that we would skip all of that and have ourselves an easy going toddler from now until, well, forever? The two’s were actually “ok”. Sure he developed more of an opinion and he’s the pickiest eater ever, but he rarely ever pulled full blown temper tantrums at home or out in public. Nor did he outright refuse to listen …
