A Mother’s Day Series: Creators and Curators

Mother’s Day is a big day for us. But not because we like tooting our own horns. I think its often more the other way round! We often focus too much on ways we weren’t ‘good enough’, and not enough on how far we’ve come, considering we knew absolutely NOTHING about how to give birth and care for a new living being! But honestly, it’s also day we are reminded of how lucky we are to be moms and to be grateful for the mothers we’ve had in our lives.

And this year to celebrate mother’s day, I decided to do a month long series of not just one, but multiple women who embody the spirit of creativity and curation in addition to being moms themselves!

Over the last few months I’ve been learning about all these different women who started their own businesses and I’ve found at least two things in common about them. Those two things are the agency to create something and the ability to curate in such a way that is clearly their own point of view.

But wait, if you extract it out a little more, you’ll find that all moms have these qualities. Think about how you decorated your little one’s room, or picked out the softest of onesies and swaddles for your registry. Or what about that Pinterest board you’ve been working on for your little one’s next birthday party? And seriously –  who can come up with all those different baby food recipes without some creativity and resourcefulness??? I’ve got a friend who recently started trying different ways to braid her daughter’s hair everyday! I think its just a natural momma superpower to create amazing things.

So I hope you’ll join me and others to celebrate mothers; in all the big and small ways they create and curate in the world!

  1. I love this! It’s so true, I never realize how much I put into creating little gifts or outfits. It’s a natural mommy skill. <3
