I Found My Soul (And Strength) On A Bike At Soul Cycle San Mateo

This isn’t going to be a long post. I just wanted to let it be known (mostly for myself to look back on this day), that I tried in-door cycling for the first time in my entire life at the brand spanking new Soul Cycle in San Mateo. And I wasn’t alone. 50 something of us packed into that nicely air- conditioned room full of yellow bikes and we ‘rode as one’ to Bey. It started with an invite to be introduced to Soul Cycle. And basically inviting everyone and anyone I knew. It was my first time organizing anything fitness related, because as my husband will tell you, exercising is not on my list of priorities. I thought i’d be lucky if 5 people signed up with me. That 5 turned out to be 10 times more than I had expected. How did that happen? Well I could not have done it without the help of Katherine Chen, (a.k.a @poosekat on instagram) who I had the pleasure of meeting through Jennifer Yco and her …

Taryn Kutches: Co-Founder Of Parker Design Reinventing The Woman’s Backpack

A couple of nights ago, guest editor Taryn Kutches did us all a favor and shared her 10 must haves for pumping while on the go. We hope it streamlined some planning for those of you in the beautiful trenches of nursing. Tonight, I wanted to share her story with you. I’ve featured a few female entrepreneurs who left a career to pursue another, but this one is still doing both and raising a daughter. Taryn is from Norton Shores, MI, a small beach town on the west side of the state, where she lives with her husband Pete, a four-legged son Tahoe, and their daughter Parker. During the week she does the 40 hour grind as a sales engineer in the automotive industry. When she’s not at her day job, she’s sleeping, keeping up with her daughter and working hard on her passion project: Parker Design, of which she is co-founder of. What is Parker Design? A fashion brand hoping to re-think women’s fashion and positively changing the world at the same time. They’re beginning with …

10 Must Have’s for Pumping while Traveling

Trying something new today! Tonight on the blog is guest editor, Taryn Kutches, co-founder of Parker Design, sharing her tips on pumping while traveling. A must read if you’re a new mom returning to work from maternity, travel for work or just want to get away for the weekend. I know a lot of you just entering that stage of returning to work, so I thought this might be helpful. I for one felt the struggle the first year of nursing with my son, so it turned out pumping became a regular part of my life, as it is for many of you. These tips will be life-savers, trust me! So here’s Taryn!: Are you nervous about keeping up nursing while you are away from your little one for a few days? Don’t worry, I’ve been there too. I was determined to nurse my little girl for a year. After weeks of struggles in the beginning, we finally got the hang of it and we ended up making it to our goal, but boy did I ever under estimate …

The 10 Ways Why I’m Rocking Motherhood Challenge

It’s mid-week through May (where has 2017 gone??) and mother’s day has come and gone. To be honest, although it was a pretty big deal all over social media, it felt much like any other day. It was business like usual. But really, I was fine with that because I’m reminded everyday, like every mom out there, just what motherhood is all about. And don’t let the title of this post fool you into thinking that I’ve got it all figured out. It was actually the title of a challenge with the hashtag #rockingmotherhood circulating through social media, encouraging moms to share ways they’re rocking motherhood.  I was tagged by a new mom friend I met over Instagram @presentfullmama, who happens to also be a therapist. So I thought, sure, why not? At least I’ll finally have another parenting blog post! It was actually harder to come up with 10 things than I thought! Which is typical for me, since I tend to put myself down about things, but it was a much needed exercise. Get ready for some …

Outfit Post: Minimalist Vibes With Lo & Sons

Photography By: Anthony Hudson Minimalism has got to be my favorite fashion trend. It’s simple, easy and stands the test of time. I’m not a huge fan of color, so I’m quite happy in my black, whites and neutrals. I recently got a Lo & Sons Waverley cross body bag which practically goes with me everywhere and is so easy to pair with any outfit. Whether its running errands, going out with family or out on a shoot, its the perfect bag for my minimalistic tendencies and essentials. Don’t be deceived by its small size, this compact little bag can carry a surprising amount and can be worn 4 ways which is a really smart idea for people (including moms) on the go. First as a wristlet. As A Shoulder Bag. As a crossbody. Or even as a hands free belt. This cute little bag is one of my favorites to take around! Very easy to switch from one style to another. From one purpose to another. How would you style it?   Disclaimer: This was …

17 Tips On Starting Your Own Business From 9 Women Who Did It.

Today’s post was inspired by some real questions I had a few years ago when I started my blog and still continue to ask today as I start a new freelancing career. How do you start your own business? And what does it take to become successful? The funny thing is, I never asked anyone for advice on how to start my own business. I googled, I tried things, and did my research, but I never actually talked to anyone about how to start one. So I finally did. I asked nine talented female entrepreneurs in the decor, kids and fashion space, about THE best things they did when starting their own businesses. And what I learned was absolutely golden and not to mention diverse. All of them are truly inspiring and I’m so fortunate to have crossed paths with them, whether in person or on Instagram. If you’re thinking about making that leap, get ready because you’re about to get proven, solid advice on how to successfully start and grow your business from nine different women who did it. Decor …

Need A Gift? Find It At Perch – A Local Gem Nestled In The Heart of Glen Park

One of the things I love about San Francisco, is the endless number of cute neighborhoods and local businesses that you can’t find anywhere else in the world. Perch is one of those local shops that you are sure to spend time in and walk away with more than what you intended to buy! Owner Zoel Fages, has been a resident of San Francisco for as long as he can remember and has been curating modern, vintage and international products at Perch for the past 9 years. He is very welcoming and helpful to customers who stop in to browse in his store. You can tell he just loves everything in his store, the kind of love only a local business owner would have. Here you will find items that make the perfect gift for your family, friends and even for your self. The first thing I noticed when I stepped into this bright space was the corner of items for children. This is the perfect place for locals of Glen Park and beyond to pick up a gift for …

First Outfit Post: Spring Florals, Denim and Red Block Heels

I’ve been blogging here for the past 3 years and I haven’t put up very many outfit/style post. To be honest, I’d much rather be behind the camera than in front of it. But sometimes we have to push past our comfort zones and show up. So I decided to give this a try. I’m not a big print person, but Spring is here and I was inspired by all the pretty flowers in bloom. I picked this really minimal location because I just love the colors. It’s the James Turrell Sky Space at the De Young Museum, San Francisco. It’s a must see! Floral Blouse: The Kooples (Now On Sale at Bloomingdales) Jeans: Denim Studio Paris (Now on sale!) or  Alternative Socks: Urban Outfitters $2 or Alternative Shoes: Style Nada or Alternative I heard Everlane is coming out with a pair of cute red heels! Leather Jacket: Serge Pariente  (Now On Sale) or Alternative Sunglasses: Ray Bans   I gave the shirt a lot of thought. Did it seem spring enough? It’s black! The good thing is, …

My Favorite Paperless Post Designers For Cards and Invitations

I just missed my friend’s baby shower down in LA and I’m bummed. I have to make it up to her some how. Being miles apart, having a kid, trying to figure out life… doesn’t make it any easier. Sometimes I don’t even have time to go pick up a gift and mail it. Yes, I’m one of those horrible procrastinating friends. Which is why I’m sort of thankful for what technology can do for us. It got me thinking about Paperless Post. Incase you didn’t know, Paperless Post is an e-card platform. You can send baby shower/wedding invitations, birthday cards, thank you cards and just about any card you can think of for any occasion. You just send a card at the click of a button. And what sets Paperless Post apart from other e-card services, is their emphasis on thoughtful and attractive designs. They look hand crafted, except they’re virtual (They also do paper cards too)! And I just learned that they had an extensive designer collection including some well known names like Oscar …
