Where To Take Your Little Ones Adventuring On Big Island, Hawaii!

Often when we travel with O, it’s difficult to leave the hotel. Road trips and any other type of exploration are limited by child friendly food options, and the ability to travel from point A to point B while avoiding a meltdown. Last year, we went to Kauai and spent the whole time at the resort. This year, we decided to try and explore a lit bit more of Big Island, and had an amazing time! This is a step by step playbook for our day. Preparation/Journey There To prepare for the trip, we packed lots of snacks for O as well as ample fluids (juice, water, etc.) so he wouldn’t be hangry (hungry + angry) along the road trip. My husband looked at the maps ahead of time. We were staying on the Fairmont Orchid, and we wanted to visit Hilo and the volcanoes, which is roughly 2 hours away. How can we get our toddler to the volcanoes without a melt down and still maintain his interest? We planned several stops along the …

My Top 10 Reason’s To Love The Fairmont Orchid

Aloha! Here’s our second post of our Hawaii vacation series. This post is about our hotel accommodations at the Fairmont Orchid Resort.  We really couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay while we were in Hawaii for obvious reasons. So lets get into it! Plus at the end I’ll be sharing how you can score yourself the best deal to stay at the Fairmont Orchid! 1. The Room View The room we stayed at during our stay at the Fairmont Orchid was ‘exquisite’. We stayed in a suite which had a ‘sweeping’ view of the golf course from your lanai and a peak of the Pacific Ocean on our left. The suite had a separate parlor area divided from the main bed room with french doors, a sofa that can turn into a sleeper couch and a dresser with a fridge (no freezer). The bedroom had a powder room/office, which leads to the bathroom, garnished with marble counters and completely marble shower. Gorgeous! Now that as I’m writing this, I should have just done a …

The Perfect Weekender Bag For Our Hawaii Getaway – The Catalina

Aloha! Starting my extensive blogging about our recent family trip to Hawaii (Big Island) with one of my least favorite topics  – packing. Fortunately I was saved by Lo & Son’s Catalina weekender bag, which almost made me forget we had to bring 4 large suitcases full of my son’s necessities (including a car seat). I was originally going to use the Catalina weekender bag to pack all of my clothes and belongings, but found an even better use for it during our trip. First I used it as my airplane carry-on with things we needed to bring for our 6 hour plane ride. I packed: Bottles for juice, water and milk Extra change of clothes for the kiddo Wipes Snacks Jackets for both of us My smaller purse Ipad, charger I could have fit my lap top and camera in there as well, but I decided why torture myself? It was the perfect bag for our getaway.  Once we got there, I basically turned it into a beach, pool and road trip bag. After …
