My 6 Week Journey to Wellness: Week 5 and 6 Recap

As you all may know, I’ve been working with Darcy of Fit Foodie Mom on balancing my life and getting myself to a better level of fitness. You can probably tell by my late post that something was up. Well, lets just say its been a busy and mixed 2 weeks. I traveled down to LA alone with O for 5 days over a weekend, so that left little time to do much of anything centered around goals. But I still managed to work on a few of them. I’ve also not been able to document much of my ‘exercise journey’ these last 2 weeks, so no videos or photos unfortunately! I’ll be doing a quick ‘Final Results/Reflection’ Post following this one to just sum up my whole experience and what I took away from it. Now let me do a quick recap of each week: Week 5 My goals for the week were: 1. Set aside time to look over a family mission statement exercise 2. Work out at least 3 times this week during …

My 6 week Journey to Wellness – Week 4 Recap

Hello! It’s been a very busy week so I haven’t had a time to do a recap until now. I made another video though, which I hope you’ll enjoy at my expense (posted at the end of this post). Goals For The Week Let me recap my goals for the week. Workout everyday this week (maybe between work sessions as your break) Add healthy snacks between smaller meals (best if you can prep ahead of time so you don’t prep during work time) Take O on errands so you don’t cut into work time Connect with a MOPS group Arrange a MNO at your house for your friends while Chris is gone How Did I Do? In Summary, I worked out 3 days again out of 7. Did the exercises as a break between work sessions. I really enjoyed doing that. I did some strength exercises, and a little bit of cardio (running). I did try snacking the first few days, but I didn’t prepare for the week ahead of time so I ended up skipping …

My 6 Week Journey To Wellness: Week 3 Recap

I’m half way through! It’s been getting harder to keep up while trying to keep all my priorities in order. But Darcy has come to my rescue again following week 2! We touched base over Skype to review the end of week 2 and set new goals for week 3. I shared how trying to get work done made it easy for me to ‘let go’ of my exercises, even if it were only 15 minutes. Which doesn’t make any sense. So we looked at my ‘work’ responsibilities and what I took away from our conversation was the need for me to develop a type of system that will help streamline my work process so that i’m not wasting time figuring it out as I go along. So I spent the later half of my week trying to do that, and it helped me stop obsessing over things that I had no control over. Towards the end of the week, I freed up more time to do some exercises. Goals for the week Stream line work flow …

My 6-week journey to wellness: Week 2 Recap

At the beginning of the week, Darcy and I synced up to talk about goals for week 2. She was really encouraging about my first week’s progress. We talked about what things I valued the most based on a tool I had used (physical fitness wasn’t one of them). It helped me see that what I spent most of my time, energy and money on determined what I valued the most. Makes sense. Those things were work, O and my personal interests. She also gave me some feedback and support around my work, which I didn’t expect, but it was really thoughtful of her to do so. Getting feedback like that was really empowering. Goals Exercise: Still keeping to working out every day, blog only at the end of the week Food: Keep track of what i’m eating, try one new clean recipe this week.  Work: Write down all the things I need to get done  Meditation time: Try to do it early in the morning (without falling asleep) How did I do this week? Day 1: Was still …

My 6 week journey to wellness – Week 1

Week 1 – Measurements, Setting Goals and Planning Lets get started! Darcy and I started the week with a google hangout conversation. Prior to our convo, she asked me for my measurements (waist, thigh, arms, butt, weight, etc.) and before pictures. It wasn’t really as important for me though because my goal isn’t to loose weight. But I still did it. We chatted about why and what my goals for these 6 weeks were. Here are the goals I came up with: I would like to feel like I have more time I would like to have more energy Then we narrowed it down to 3 goals for the first week: Spend 10 mins a day by yourself in some sort of meditative/spiritual state Exercise daily (10-20 mins), incorporating some strength After exercising, spend 3 mins writing down everything you can think of that needs to get done (doesn’t have to be something that needs to be done today, but if it’s something that’s on your mind, get it down on paper so you can pop it …

My 6 Week Journey to Wellness with Fit Foodie Mom

What’s this all about? Hi! I’m about to start my 6-week journey to wellness. But what does that actually mean? Well, for me, wellness involves taking care of the whole person so that the person can thrive in whatever situation or environment that they are in, and beyond.  It also means preventative care, and reducing the effects of aging on the body.  Yes, it does sound a whole lot like a Kaiser endorsement. But its true. And this only really made sense to me after I became a mother.  I realized I need to take care of my self, mind, body and spirit. Not just for my own sake; but for my son. When I lack wellness, it affects the way I feel about myself, the way I relate with the people that matter to me and how I achieve my goals. So I felt, it was time to hit the refresh button and start this journey. I hope you’ll join me! Let me make things clear Confession: I was never an active person. I never prioritized fitness because I was always …
